Great characters often representing the kings and queens of olden times such as Count Guillem-Ramon of Cerdanya and his wife Sancia of <strong>Barcelona<\/strong>, the founding couple of the city in 1090.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=https:\/\/letrainjaune.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Les-geants-de-VDC-par-OT-\u00a9Conflent-Canigo-2.jpg title=\"The Giants of Villefranche-de-Conflent\" rel=\"prettyPhoto\"><img src=https:\/\/letrainjaune.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Les-geants-de-VDC-par-OT-\u00a9Conflent-Canigo-2.jpg alt=\"\" title=\"The Giants of Villefranche-de-Conflent\" width=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3927\"\/><\/a><figcaption>The Giants of Villefranche-de-Conflent<span>&copy; OTCONFLENTCANIGO <\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This gathering of groups of giants from <strong>France<\/strong> and  <strong>Catalonia <\/strong> will make you feel like dancing.\u00a0The <em>Geganters<\/em>   guide or carry the giants, and the musicians, the <em>grallers<\/em>\u00a0add rhythm to the sound of traditional instruments such as the <em>gralla<\/em>, the <em>flaviol<\/em>, the <em>tambourine <\/em> and the  <em> bag of <\/em> <em>gemecs<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>During 3 days, <strong>Villefranche<\/strong> organizes many activities, such as the traditional egg hunt with music in the city called <em><strong>Goig Dels Ous<\/strong><\/em>, that are then eaten with the traditional <em>ron-cremat<\/em> (rum flamb\u00e9 with spices). On Sunday, the Giants walk around the streets of the city accompanied by a traditional music ensemble of Catalonia called the cobla. And on Easter Monday, a pilgrimage to the \u201chermitage of the pink marble cliffs, Notre-Dame-de-Vie\u201d takes place (40-minute walk uphill).
