Annual maintenance
The Train Jaune line closes for a few weeks each year, usually in autumn and spring, for essential maintenance work.
As part of the Occitanie Rail Plan and following on from periodic works carried out since 2019, SNCF Réseau continues its regeneration programme on the Train Jaune line. After an initial phase of works in spring, teams will work from 23 September to 10 November, carrying out new large-scale operations. In 2024, 7.6 million euros will be invested in the line by the European Union and the French government (25%), the Occitanie Region (66.5%) and SNCF Réseau (8.5%).
The main operations are:
- Upgrading Sainte-Léocadie’s electrical substations;
- Reinforcing the roofs of the Via, Col Rigat and Saint Vincent tunnels;
- Carrying out track work in the Olette sector;
- Securing 6 rocky slopes between Sauto and Font-Romeu.
During this period, regular liO replacement coach services will be provided. In addition, at the request of the Occitanie/Pyrénées-Méditerranée Region, two additional round trips by coach will be added every Sunday between Villefranche-Vernet-les-Bains and Latour-de-Carol.
